Darcy SmithShare

It’s an exciting time here at our company as we arrive at an important milestone: the 125th anniversary of the founding of L. & J.G. Stickley! The coming year will provide an opportunity to look back at the ways Stickley has evolved—and to honor the traditions it has preserved—while also creating unique commemorative designs that will allow our loyal customers to share in the celebration. Watch this space throughout the year for inside looks at the memories, products, and events that will mark the occasion!

Where we began
Gustav Stickley may be the most recognizable name among five furniture-making brothers; his groundbreaking designs in what we now call Mission style were at the root of the American Arts and Crafts movement. But during the same period, it was Leopold and John George Stickley who lay the foundation for a brand that has lasted a century and a quarter. In 1900, the two brothers bought the Collin, Sisson & Pratt furniture factory in Fayetteville, New York, forming a business eventually known as L.& J.G. Stickley, Inc. Over many years, their work involved both competition and collaboration with Gus; in 1916, the three combined their assets under the name Stickley Associated Cabinetmakers. Ultimately, it was Leopold and John George’s expert craftsmanship and business sense—as well as Leopold’s gift for wisely adapting to changing tastes—that gave L. & J.G. Stickley the staying power to earn its place in American furniture history.

Commemorative pieces you can own
As beloved as our annual Collector Edition designs are, we knew this year’s version needed to be something special. So instead of a single, limited-edition piece, we conceived of the 125th Anniversary Collector Series, which offered the possibility of new pieces appearing throughout the year. The first contribution is the Floral Tile Collection, a five-piece Mission-style capsule collection featuring removable and interchangeable ceramic art tiles. If you act quickly and join our Collector’s Club, you can purchase pieces that include a special serialized plaque honoring this notable anniversary, which are available only in a very limited number!
And as the name implies, our 125th Anniversary Collector Series may have more surprises in store. What’s more, rumor has it that one very special anniversary piece is in the works for the most passionate Mission lovers—details to come!
Reasons to be proud and grateful
Every day we are reminded of what our hard work can achieve, even after 125 years. On December 9, 2024, Furniture Today announced its annual Reader Rankings, with Stickley voted as Best Luxury Furniture Company. We are thrilled to receive such important recognition from industry experts!
Earlier, during the October furniture market in High Point, our design team won two Pinnacle Awards from the International Society of Furniture Designers, and in September, Furniture Today named our CEO, Aminy Audi, to their inaugural group of industry “Titans”—five leaders who have built storied careers growing successful companies and contributing beyond their own four walls to support the ongoing health and growth of the furniture industry. These successes are a testament to the talent, perseverance, and passion for what we do at Stickley.
