A Closer Look at the 2026 Collector Edition

A Closer Look at the 2026 Collector Edition

Darcy Smith

For the 27th year, Stickley has created a new limited-edition piece that’s sure to appeal to its ardent fans. The 2026 Collector Edition is the LaSalle Rocker, the first rocking chair ever to hold this distinction! It draws its inspiration from an original design by the Stickley Bros., which we’ve refashioned while preserving its meticulous craftsmanship.

Like our most iconic Mission pieces, the rocker is made in quartersawn American white oak—its dynamic ray-flake grain ensuring that no two chairs are exactly alike—with our time-honored pinned mortise-and-tenon joinery giving it strength and durability. But as Director of Design Marissa Brown points out, that’s only the beginning of the story.

Stickley artisans hand-carve every detail until the finished design in revealed

“Gorgeous botanical carving is really the showcase and the focus of this chair, including a flower bud and stem with a very fluid line on the back splat. And there’s a dappled texture behind the carving that gives it more depth and richness.” This carving on the chair’s reverse-tapered center back splat, as well as those found beneath each arm and at the top of each post, is an impressive reminder of the exquisite handwork that remains a pillar of Stickley furniture to this day.

A chisel is used to create the texture that sets off the carved motifs

Elsewhere throughout the rocker, thought and care went into its more practical details. A cutout at the top of its curved rail makes it easy to reposition the chair, the arms were shaped with arcs to allow more natural support and movement, and a broad slip seat was designed for perfect comfort.

As always, collectors who purchase the LaSalle Rocker will have the opportunity to customize certain elements to their taste. While it’s available online in three of our most popular finishes (Centennial, Onondaga, and Aurora), customers who may wish to match the chair to their other Mission furniture can visit an Authorized Dealer or Stickley-owned showroom to order it in any Stickley oak finish. The slip seat is covered in Colman leather, a rich semi-aniline named to honor Ephraim Colman, creator of the original Morris chair! You can choose any of three Colman colors (Boot, Olive, and Saddle) for your LaSalle Rocker.

                                                       Colman Boot leather, Onondaga finish

Colman Olive leather, Centennial finish                                        Colman Saddle leather, Aurora finish

We’re excited to bring this wonderful chair to you through the end of 2026. And if you like what you see, there’s even more to look forward to: Stay tuned for some additional pieces in the LaSalle family that will be revealed later in the year!
