Serving Interior Designers with Stickley To-the-Trade

[originally posted September 2022]

From the company’s inception, Stickley has worked to create strong direct relationships with its customers. Yet there’s another group whose importance can’t be underestimated. Interior designers have tremendous influence when it comes to selecting furniture options for their individual and corporate clients, and it’s smart for a brand to keep its collections top-of-mind with as many design professionals as possible.

Stickley’s first-ever To-the-Trade program was formalized in 2021 to increase its visibility in the design community (a.k.a. “the trade”). Membership in the program is by application, ensuring that only reputable firms with a serious body of clientele have insider access. Our trade partners benefit from preferential discounts on Stickley purchases as well as from a range of support services.

The Stickley team can be called upon to pull fabric swatches, advise on wood finishes, and provide a variety of tools and resources designers can use every day. They also create detailed mood boards that can inspire designers to recognize the flexibility of Stickley style.

High Point Showroom

In High Point, North Carolina, the hub of the furniture industry in America, you’ll find the L. & J.G. Stickley industry showroom that also serves as a base for our trade business. Dealers and sales reps descend twice a year for a first look at new products as part of the International Home Furnishings Market, and designers also take advantage of the market seasons to stop in for tours and consultations.

Heading up our program as North American Director of Stickley-to-the-Trade is Brooke Barber, who boasts a deep resume of impressive furniture brands and manages Stickley trade relationships. Kendra Perley assists her as Stickley Trade Concierge based in High Point, providing whatever assistance our design partners require. Both are well-versed in interior design, so Brooke and Kendra can speak fluently to trade professionals in the language of their business.

Stickley also maintains important affiliations in the design industry. We have become an Industry Partner of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), which facilitates communications between designers and key brands. In High Point, we’re a flagship brand with High Point by Design (HPXD), a member-run organization that sponsors a variety of events and promotes High Point as a year-round interior-design destination. HPXD-sponsored events include monthly Design Days, with select showrooms open and catering exclusively to design professionals.

New York City Showroom

This summer our outreach has continued to grow. Our Manhattan retail location has taken on a dual purpose and become the Stickley Trade Showroom at 207 West 25th; this showroom specifically serves designers based in the New York Tri-State area. With the assistance of Trade Specialist Matthew Perreira, trade account holders can work in a dedicated design center onsite, bring clients to experience product in person, and take advantage of a range of support tools and services, including white-glove delivery. This month, designers will be welcomed to Step into Fall at a special event offering up-close experiences with key collections and a sneak peek at the exciting new Surrey Hills Collection, arriving in 2023.

With a successful first year under its belt, Stickley To-the-Trade has established an impressive network of accounts, and excitement is spreading rapidly with every new collection launch. The coming season is a wonderful time for more interior designers to discover all the possibilities that Stickley represents for their clients!
